This product includes three engaging and challenging activities that provide practice with subtraction of multi-digit numbers. Students practice subtracting with and without regrouping, solving problems in which they have to “borrow” from the tens place and problems in which they need to “borrow” from the hundreds place as well. A mix of zeros is included, as subtracting from zero proves to be a difficult skill for many students.
After completing the computation, students use a number/letter correspondence strategy to construct the answer to a “back to school” riddle. Students cut and glue numbers and letters:
- in order from least to greatest
- to answer questions and use clues that require an understanding of numeration and number sense
- using “greater than” & “less than” symbols
Please take a look at the sample pages that follow to see if this product looks like a good instructional fit for your students.
