Product Description
A Time Capsule is a great way to capture a glimpse of history.
What if our students could capture their own snippet of history? They can! I’ve created an engaging Time Capsule activity that is both a great Back-to-School AND End-of-Year activity.
Students will complete 15 activities and seal them up tight when finished. On the last day of school, they will open their Time Capsule Packet and discover just how much they have grown in only one, short school year. I’ve included two clip-art versions (boy/girl) for your convenience.

What's Inside?

Self Portrait
Students capture their first day by drawing a detailed picture of themselves. Switch it up by having students draw each other.
First Day Picture(s)
Take a picture or two of your students and have them attach the pics to the picture page. Switch it up by having serious and goofy poses.
What I Did In School Today
Students make personal entries of what happened before, during, and after school on the first day.
Two Thumbs Up! One Thumb Down!
Students record things they liked and didn’t like on their first day. With a focus on the positives, students will be encouraged to find the good things that happened on their first day.
My Goals
Students list their academic and personal goals for the new school year.
My First Impressions
Students write down their first impressions about different first day/week topics. Encourage them to be honest about their feelings.
My Friends
Students reflect on the kinds of friends they currently have and evaluate their relationships by placing them in the appropriate categories.
A Letter to Myself
Students write a letter to themselves as if they were writing the letter to a good friend. They will offer advice, tips, and tricks on how to have a successful school year.
All About Me
Students use one of two Avatar graphic organizer to explore and list their best characteristics.
My Predictions for the New School Year
Students will make predictions for upcoming events, activities and holidays.
My Favorites
Students write their favorite answers to posed questions and categories.
Multiplication Master
Students take a timed multiplication quiz. I would suggest making extra copies of the quiz so that they can take it again on the last day of school to mark improvement.
“I Am” Poem
Students will complete an “I Am” poem template based on their feelings and reactions to the first day/week of school.
My Personal Data
Students can record their current height, weight, and other data.
In The News
Students write about current events they have seen or heard,
and/or bring in and attach the news articles directly to the “In the News” activity.
