Looking for the perfect first day of school homework assignment? Students will set a goal for the school year (their vision) and place a photo of themselves with their desired test score and/or class grade on the front of the pennant. They are to then decorate the pennant. They will also write a plan as to how they will achieve their goal on the back of the pennant. Students are instructed to be specific so, for example, instead of “I’ll do all my homework” they are recommended to write: “I will spend 30 minutes each day reviewing my notes and complete the assigned homework problems. “
Use these vision pennants to decorate your classroom, bulletin board, walls, or ceilings. They engage students in reflection and goal-setting. Students can revisit their pennant as they get closer to the end of the school year or near their exam. You can include them as artifacts to show your administrators/department chair how you acquire knowledge of learners, engage students in self-reflection and hold them accountable for their own learning.
This is a Microsoft Word file. Type over the text and EDIT the directions to suit your classroom’s needs. These pennants are meant to be printed on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. The students are directed to cut the pennant before turning them in. You can then hole punch the top of the pennants and use string to put them together as a banner that can easily be displayed around your classroom.
Sample pennants are included.
