In this packet you will receive a during reading and an after reading activity for your students that correlates with the book "My Mouth is a Volcano." This book is a great book to help teach your students to not interrupt. Perfect for back to school!
There are 5 teacher stopping points in the book, that ask the students to reflect on what you are reading, by either drawing or writing. There is an after-reading activity that asks students to think about how this relates to the classroom. I've also include a page that can be made into a poster about how the class will work together to make sure that their mouths are NOT volcanos!
September 11th Update: I took out the original page for drawing answers and gave more space. I did this with my students, and realized there wasn't enough room! Simply make copies of the 5 pages (1 for each question), cut them in half, and staple.
Welcome to A Real Reading Experience. I aim to give teachers the tools to provide authentic reading experiences with children through the love of picture books. Each picture book will have a focus, like inferring or characterization. The packet will come with pre-selected stopping points for teachers to stop and have students answer a question. At the end, there is a piece for students to complete a written reflection of the story. K-2 units and 3-5 units are on the way!
