Get To Know You Bingo is a great activity for September! Students will walk around and find classmates for each box. It will spark conversations and students will quickly realize how much they have in common. This is not only an ice breaker but also a community building activity. I encourage teachers to discuss management before starting the activity. This is a great way for teachers to also see how students approach others, manage their bodies during these types of activities and see how each individual functions in the larger group. Enjoy!
Suggested Math Connections:
-Pick one box (ex: went to the pool this summer). Graph how many students did go the pool vs did not go to the pool. Discuss what students notice and encourage language such as "less" "greater number of" "equal".
-Introduce tally marks. Have each student make a tally mark for categories for total number of students who fit that category. Afterwards, count by fives with the tally marks.
