We all know how the area that houses student backpacks can get extremely messy! After a classroom discussion, my students came up with a classroom job: backpack monitor. This monitor will check backpacks periodically throughout the day, and if one is found open, on the floor, or somewhere else around the room, a ticket is issued. This monitor keeps track of how many times a student receives this ticket. After 3 tickets, the student and backpack meet with the teacher. This plan worked! The kids took more responsibility for backpack neatness, and as the year progressed, there were less and less tickets issued. This backpack monitor job can rotate weekly, monthly, or whatever works for your classroom.
