Are you looking for STUDENT CENTERED lessons? This is the activity for you!!
This can be your ELA Lesson Plan for up to 5 Days!!!!!!! Students will use their reading skills and apply to writing. There are three teacher instruction pages included with instructions on how to do a "Gallery Walk" in your classroom.
Instead of reading a story and determining the theme, students will receive a theme and write a story. This activity is great way to practice narrative writing while reinforcing theme with 4th or 5th graders. One of the best parts about this activity is the self-assessment that students will do at the end.
This resource contains theme statements instead of just one word theme. For example, instead of "courage," the theme would be, "It takes courage to do the right thing."
You will be receiving a detailed Teacher Page that will serve as your lesson plan for 3 - 5 days depending on your ELA block. Included in the Teacher Instructions will be information on how to conduct a Gallery Walk in your classroom and how students will self assess using the rubric that is included.
The majority of the activity will be done in cooperative groups. This is not a worksheet resource. It's a wonderful way to connect reading, writing, speaking and listening and language.
And It's Fun!!!!!
