Students take a walk around the school campus and record the date, time, temperature, species encountered (common and scientific name), and notes about what they are experiencing with their 5 senses. Students are expected to repeat this process on their own time, at home or at a local park. Each month, around the same date, students will log two more entries (at home, and on campus). The goal of this project is to show students (qualify) how the environment is changing from month to month, and season to season. My students completed their first two entries for this project, and so far, they love it! They're excited to see their results.
