During the Covid-19 shutdown, I had to use this in lieu of AP Lab #9, Bacterial Transformation since we never got the chance to actually do the lab. Moving forward, this activity would be great as an intro to the lab before you do actually go ahead and do it, or as a review after you complete it.
This activity covers the theory behind the AP Bio Bacterial Transformation Lab & includes virtual checks for understanding to assess student knowledge. It's set up for Google Classroom and is instantly ready for use; it includes an answer key at the end (MAKE SURE TO DELETE IT BEFORE SENDING THIS TO KIDS :)).
The activity starts by having students access two YouTube videos- Bozeman and an excellent animation of the theory behind transformation/how it works. Students answer questions, and then head over to a virtual simulator to "run" the lab. They use the quiz questions to check their understanding (and they get immediate feedback on incorrect answers).
