After reading "A Bad Case of Stripes" by David Shannon, have students complete this sheet to share with the class. Students can either draw a picture of something that makes them unique, something they like that is unusual, or something that they really enjoy. I always model this first, as it can be too open-ended for some students without an example first. I usually draw a picture of my diary and write in the lima bean "writing in my diary." I tell the kids that I used to be embarrassed to have a diary but now I think it's really cool because I love being able to go back and read things I wrote about when I was younger! I encourage kids to think of something that they think is unique to them, but if they're really stuck they can do anything that they enjoy. This is a fun get-to-know-you activity and looks great on display!
This is editable if you want to modify it for your students!
