This is a Powerpoint Presentation and a group worksheet that includes 20 badly translated movie titles in Spanish. I am having students work in small groups and work together to figure out the literal translation from Spanish to English. They are then to identify the correct English title. There are 4 separate worksheets with 5 movies on each sheet. After students have figured out the movie titles, the Powerpoint can be reinforced with the larger group. First will appear the image in Spanish, then the direct translation to English, and finally the actual name of the movie.
This would be a great activity for the first week of school when introducing translator generators or introducing the language to new learners!
Note: Some of the movies you may not find appropriate and will want to substitute your own, for example: The Hangover, Get Him to the Greek, Pulp Fiction & Superbad.
