This is one of my kiddos favorites - Baggie Ice-cream Lab Activity. My 5th graders just simply LOVE taking part in Sweet Science experiments. I say learning shouldn't be boring and it gets even better when it can be tasted!
This ZIP file was updated and now includes not only the PPT Presentation which serves as a teacher's guide to sweet science lab activity when students make their own delicious treat but also the handouts for students. It serves as a simple chemistry lesson to observe the changing states of matter, chemical reactions, and the properties of ice and salt in creating ice-cream.
This file includes well designed activity aiming to increase the quality of learning while decreasing the time for preparation. The package will help you to guide your students to visualize and understand the states of matter with well designed hands on activity.
The purpose of this activity is to see if it is possible to create a chemical reaction to make a liquid milk turn into solid-like ice cream by lowering the temperature to the freezing point.
This ZIP file includes:
♦ PPT (read-only) Presentation (Teacher's Guide);
♦ PDF version of Presentation (Teacher's Guide);
♦ PDF Student's worksheet;
♦ PDF letter to parents;
♦ PDF Evaluation Rubric;
♦ PDF (1/4 page) card with QR code with a link to Ice Cream History poster);
♦ PDF (1/2 page) worksheet for introductory activity;
