I used the checkbooks in my classroom for the students to earn money. The students would earn money and keep track of it on their bonus charts I would put on their desk. They would keep track of the money they earn through tallies. We would balance our checkbooks once a month, more if we had time. Then we would have a store where they could spend their money on items from the prize box. I would have them write checks to me for the amount of the item.
They could earn money by doing homework, participating in class, helping friends, etc. There were so many ways they could earn money. There were time where the class would have to pay money to the teacher if that was the consequence they decided. I have included the checkbook directions, the bonus charts, and the checks. I would change the checks a little each year depending on the class. I used this for 6 years in my classroom and it was always a success!
