I have combined my love of baseball and economics into this engaging project. This product will show you how to combine baseball foods with shopping and cooking to teach economics and have an amazing time! Your kids will have so much fun that they will forget they are learning.
The project includes the following activities. You don't have to do them all, but it works best if you do.
1. Students will choose a recipe from the Sports Illustrated for Kids – Ball Park Eats cookbook. This book is available from amazon.com. It has 3-4 recipes for every MLB stadium. They will choose their recipe knowing that they only have $15 to spend on the ingredients for the competition.
2. Students will shop for their ingredients.
3. Students will participate in a cooking competition.
This activity is full of chances to teach economics.... decision making, budgets, taxes, marketing, supply and demand, productive resources, etc. If you don't feel confident teaching those concepts, don't worry, I have included discussion questions addressing those things.
This product includes full directions for the teacher and students, graphic organizer, score card and name tags for the judges, reflection page, discussion questions, and tips and suggestions. You can also look for me on Facebook where you will find photos of this activity going on in my classroom. I will be more than happy to help you in any way that I can. Please send me any questions you may have.
I have other activities that would be perfect for a baseball themed unit in my TPT store. Please check those out as well. Thanks!
also have a BASEBALL MEGA BUNDLE which includes 6 baseball themed products. If you are interested, you can find it here:
