Banana Split Classroom Incentive Pack
Use these materials to provide an all year long incentive program for your students to learn basic math facts. This program is designed for use with any grade/age level and is easily adaptable for memorization of any math facts (or vocabulary words, etc.)
Instructions: At the beginning of the year, create a classroom wall space with a half sheet of colored paper per student. Program these with each student’s name in the lower corner. Nearby, you may choose to hang a ‘sticker chart’ so that students may see their progress as they memorize facts, words, etc. Print one set of graphic elements (pages 4&5 per student and keep in a file.) As a student completes a given “level”, they are awarded a piece of their banana split and may cut it out and glue it on to their half sheet of paper in order to build a banana split. This creates a dynamic data wall that gives students, parents, and teachers an at-a-glance representation of how the class is progressing in the mastery of a set of skills. At the determined cut-off point, students participate in a Banana Split Party where they earn a tangible reward that corresponds with the paper one!
Included: Directions, recording chart, title sign, napkins, spoons, bowls, bananas, scoops of ice cream, toppings, whipped cream, sprinkles, cherries, pencils, and prizes. All you need to do is provide the assessments, the wall-space, and the groceries!
