This middle school / junior high school level band diagnostic assessment will do the following:
• serve as a beginning-of-year pretest to assess what your students already know versus what they need to learn.
• serve as an end-of-year posttest to assess what your students have learned versus what needs reteaching.
• provide you with a standardized style test to track data regarding your students' music theory progress over a period of time - one semester, one school year, or two to three school years.
Providing evidence as to student growth as part of the band classroom teacher's appraisal is becoming more common. This test will save you time creating an assessment and establishing simple music theory basics to be covered from beginning through intermediate to advanced band at the middle school/junior high level.
