Looking for more songs and warm-up activities for your beginning trombone students? This book was created to be used in conjunction with a methods book, such as Essential Elements Book One, so your trombone students can be more successful in their first year of band!
The book includes:
*Notation for several songs, many familiar to the students: Hot Cross Buns (starting on D and starting on G), Closet Key (starting on Bb and starting on Eb), Pease Porridge Hot, Rolling Along,Go Tell Aunt Rhody, Iranian Lullaby, Apple Tree, King's Land, and Frere Jacques.
All songs are written with the note names within the notehead, making it easier for students to learn how to read music! See the thumbnails for examples.
*Warm-up rhythmic activities for students to play on the mouthpiece
*Fingering exercises (students fill in note names given a certain position, and students fill in positions given a note name)
*Mi-Re-Do Warm-Up exercises: students choose mi, re, or do, and play the exercise on that note. Two pages are included with this--one for D, C, and Bb, and another for G, F, and Eb.
*A page in which students describe notes on the staff (Bb is on the second line, C is in the second space, etc.)
*A page in which students label the notes on the staff: Bb, C, D, Eb, F, and G (can do as homework, or as a timed activity)
The books can be printed and stapled together or bound for each trombone student, or the pages can be printed individually and handed out whenever you see fit.
