This simulation is a ready-to-go simulation in which students run a bank to understand how leveraging works and how disastrous a run on the banks can be. It is geared for a unit on the Great Depression, but could be modified for any economics course. It does a fantastic job of helping students understand a complex economic process.
This simulation is incredibly interactive and asks students to take responsibility for their own banks. This sort of collaboration and critical thinking is what the Common Core calls for.
This lesson covers Common Core Standards RH 11-12.7, 11-12.9, and 11-12.10.
