Product Description

I use these lesson materials during Banned Books Week to expose students to contemporary examples of literary censorship while also providing instruction and assessment in reading/analyzing nonfiction. In honors classes, the reading is assigned as homework and we use the class period to discuss, ending with the quiz. In academic classes, the vocab is assigned for homework and we annotate the article together before doing the questions as a "practice quiz." Depending on time, the reflection can be assigned as homework or as a warm up for discussion on the final day of BBW. Lesson includes: building vocabulary pre-reading worksheet, article with margin space for annotations, 4-question analysis quiz, and reflection prompt.
