The activities for the base 10 math strand enable students to represent and count in multiple ways, use the appropriate numeral to represent a number, and represent numbers in terms of tens and ones.
Although students should first be exposed to and practice concrete representations (manipulatives), these exercises, whether presented by demonstration to whole group, completed in pairs or small groups, or as individual practice; will bridge the transition from concrete to abstract.
