My first graders love using task cards! It is a fun and interactive way for children to practice many skills. In my classroom we use task cards in several different ways.
A class favorite is when I place the cards all over the room and students go on a hunt answering the different questions using their recording sheets. Students love to be detectives and find all of the numbers/answers! We also use task cards in math centers as well as these are great for early finishers! One final way I use them in my classroom is to help make transitions smoother and quieter! If we have a couple of extra minutes I will flip through the cards and as students answer the question correctly they line-up or walk back to their seat.
There are 30 base 10 task cards! As well as two different recording sheets. The first sheet has students practice counting the base 10 blocks. The second recording sheet has students break numbers into tens and ones. To make grading and checking for understanding easier both recording sheets have answer keys!
These task cards support the following Common Core Standards:
1.NBT.B.2, 1.NBT.B.2a, 1.NBT.B.2c
