We know how important it is for students to understand the values that the digits in numbers represent. Practice with composing and decomposing numbers based on place value helps students use strategies based on place value for addition and subtraction.
This math set can be used in several ways to provide practice with base ten place value. It includes 20 base ten cards and 20 standard number cards (ones, tens, hundreds).
The 20 base ten cards can be matched to the 20 number cards or the sets can be used in a Concentration Game format.
The cards can also be used in a Write the Room activity. Simply place the 20 base ten cards around the room. Students locate the cards and record the standard number on the recording sheet.
Or, place the number cards around the room and require students to draw the necessary flats, longs, and units to represent the number.
Use the cards for a Scoot activity. SCOOT DIRECTIONS are included in the packet.
