There are two stations in this file. They are aligned to Common Core Standards 5.NBT1 and 5.NBT.2. I use these stations with NYS Math Module 1 for fifth grade. These could be used in other grades as well to increase fluency, challenge students in younger grade, or to help students who struggle in higher grades.
The first station is a station where the students need to solve problems about place value on each card. In order to do this, students need to know how to multiply/divide by powers of ten, using the place value chart. Students will practice this through a variety of means, including the use of exponents, expanded form of numbers, decimals, and fractions. Example: what is one-tenth of 34? There are 44 cards.
In the second station, students need to determine a pattern by looking at a sequence of numbers. These patterns relate to powers of ten also. Once students determine a rule, they must then complete the pattern on the card. There is an example in the preview of these cards. This center has 36 cards.
Both centers have answer keys and direction pages. This file is 21 pages long.
