This activity is a fun way to link baseball and math! Using any set of baseball cards, students can analyze stats to determine a player's best year. This activity incorporates decimals, averages, and comparing numbers. Can be used on its own or also as a fun "Opening Day Theme Day" where students could not only analyze baseball cards to complete the baseball card journal but could also study the history of their team's stadium and learn about the physics of baseball. This could also be used as a math center. After doing a mini lesson on how to read a baseball card, this activity would make a great ongoing math center. All you would need to add is a pack of baseball cards.
