Looking for a fun way to teach idioms? Connect it to baseball! This Power Point opens with different common core standards correlating with figurative language (fourth grade, but can easily be adjusted for the necessary grade level), and then begins by describing figurative language, idiom, metaphor, simile, and hyperbole. Then, it briefly defines 12 different idioms/expressions that have to do with baseball (i.e. "a ball park figure") and uses each in a sentence. Finally, there are directions for students to create a baseball pennant using a baseball idiom from the presentation, if you were looking for a follow up activity.
