Product Description

Baseball Activities Sight Word Games

★ EDITABLE for your own lists of words, math facts, letters, etc.

★ Make practice engaging!

This file has been revised to be EDITABLE for your own lists!

ITEMS INCLUDED:

• Color and Blackline

versions of everything.

• 72 blank baseballs. Each of the 24 items you type into the list on page 4 will appear on 3 color baseballs and 3 blackline baseballs to allow for sufficient practice.

• Optional Baseball backings (or you can leave the reverse side blank)**

• Directions Sheet

• 4 Different Baseball Diamonds

• 2 sizes baseball dice to determine bases to move

• 1 baseball spinner to determine bases to move

• 8 Optional Recording Sheets (4 Color 6 4 BW)

• 4 Optional All-Star Awards (4 Color 4 BW)

Directions:

Divide players into 2 teams.

Place baseballs print side down

on designated spot on the field or beside the field.

First player picks one baseball.

If the player can identify or solve the item on the baseball, the player tosses the point die or spins the point spinner to see how many bases to move and how many runs to tally.

(If it is a word, you could also require the player to use the word in a sentence.)

Play alternates between teams, and teams add points on the scoreboard as determined by the dice or spinner.

1 base = a single

2 bases = a double

3 bases = a triple

4 bases = a homerun

Word misread = an out

Each time a run scores, students keep track on the scoreboard.

Note: To make the game progress more quickly, you can change the number of outs to 1 per inning rather than 3.

More Ways To Play

Game 1: Select the baseballs that are appropriate for your students. Place cards face down in a pile. Students roll a die to see how many cards they can pick. Students keep each card that they correctly identify or solve. (You might require students to use each word in a sentence as well.) The game is over when all baseballs have been drawn. The winner is the student with the most baseballs.

Game 2: Select 10 baseballs that a group of students need to study, and print out 2 sets of each sheet to make matching pairs. Place those 20 cards face down in 4 rows of five. Students play Memory or Concentration, turning over 2 cards at a time and keeping them if they have the same word. The game is over when all cards are gone. The winner is the student with the most baseballs. Keep cards that belong together in individual baggies.

Game 3: Select the baseballs that a group of students needs to practice. Students line up the baseballs as though they are on a path. This creates a “follow the path” type game. Each student has a game token. Students take turns rolling a number die, moving that number of spaces and identifying or solving what is on the space where the student lands.
