My students needed practice memorizing their addition facts in class, so I decided to make a pack of practice pages to help them. Using the commutative property of addition, kids will read, trace, write, and use flash cards to practice their addition facts. There is a 2 minutes timed test for each level of addition facts that accompanies the practice pages. I teach in Spanish immersion, so I created this in Spanish, but decided to translate it into English too!
I personally make a packet for each kid for the week, and each day of the week they complete one page. As they cut out flash cards, I have a sandwich bag that they place the cards in, and by the end of the week they have 20 cards with which to practice. At the end of the week, I give the class 2 minutes to complete the tests. Each child is taking the test at their level. If students pass with 100%, they will be given the next level up the next week. Students who need to practice will stay on the same level for another week.
My school's math program requires kids to write the addition facts 5 times each, so on the write it section, I ask them to write it once with pencil and a second time with a crayon.
