This is a 2-page handout for parents that describes, in very basic detail, how the oral motor mechanism works to produce speech. It provides guidance on how to think about speech targets in order to better cue their children when they are working to improve their sounds.
I work with many parents who very much want to help support speech therapy at home. There is no easy way to quickly describe how speech works and how to cue. This handout can be a starting point for helping parents understand how to support home carryover.
