Help your students to master their addition and subtraction facts, as well as improve their problem solving skills using these word problem task cards.
This resource includes a total of 60 word problems
involving addition and subtraction within 20. You can do one each day as part of your math warm–up or as a problem of the day. They can also be used in small group instruction or as a math center as well. This set contains a variety of problem structures including join problems (result unknown, change unknown, and initial unknown), separate problems (result unknown, change unknown, and initial unknown), part-part-whole problems (whole unknown and part unknown), and compare problems (difference unknown, larger unknown, and smaller unknown).
Check out the preview to see specific examples of each of these problems.
I have included each problem in 3 different sizes.
The full page format is perfect for displaying on a math meeting board or problem of the day board. The medium sized (colored) format is perfect for printing and putting in a math center or using with a small group of students. These cards are numbered and I included an answer key. The smallest format (in black and white) is perfect for printing, cutting, and pasting in student math journals.
I have colored coded the cards. I typically used the red bordered cards in September, the orange bordered cards in October, and the gray bordered in November. You, of course can use the cards in any way / order that best meets the needs of your students.
And with 3 sets of 20 cards (60 cards total), it's like getting 3 sets of task cards in one resource!
