If you’re looking for a simple, yet meaningful way to cover basic geography concepts, this unit is for you! As it is meant to cover the basics that students need to know as they navigate through their history lessons, the unit is meant to be covered in 1-2 weeks, depending on how much time you can spend each day.
To keep it simple, I have included student journal pages to use instead of interactive notebook pages. This keeps your time for your lessons, not for cutting and gluing. We made paper bag covers for our journals to keep them looking “old and authentic.” If you don’t have time for that, just staple the pages and start your unit.
1. Earth Facts
2. Oceans and Seas
3. The 7 Continents
5. Longitude and Latitude
7. Climate Zones
These work perfectly for grades 4-6, but can be modified for younger grades. If you don't want to use a certain page (such as the Climate Zones), just don't use the page.
I have included a variety of websites you can use as you go through the topics in the student journal. There are a plethora of resources, but having these links at your fingertips saves you time!
Also include is a review game, a study guide, and a unit test. An answer key is provided for both the journal and the test.
It’s all here – all you have to do is print and go!
