My students are great with computers - they can find funny videos, chat with friends, and play this weird game with a giant worm that eats orbs and runs into other worms.
But most of that won’t help them use the internet in a functional way as young adults, so I put together this “Internet Scavenger Hunt” to help my students hone their skills. These scavenger hunts help students learn to use the internet to find information about weather, travel, and commerce among other things. Sure, some students might complain that this is the “boring” way to use the internet, but I like to remind them that unless you can ride a giant worm from Philadelphia to Detroit, these are internet skills that everyone should have.
