This packet was inspired after hearing Kathie Nunley talk about Layered Curriculum (help4teachers.org). I am in no way connected to her website or cause but thought that bringing choice into assignments in the Spanish classroom was a brilliant idea. This packet offers many different activities for students to complete to demonstrate knowledge of basic questions and answers to introduce oneself in Spanish. They show their abilities in many ways, from the most basic to more complex. For many of these activities, there are rubrics also included; while some require students to orally explain their process and were graded based on their ability to do just that. This is not meant to be a packet you can take and use directly, it will require some changing and tweaking to fit your classroom but it presents a way to start to give students some freedom in their work.
