Identifying Reasons for Feelings:
These flashcards are intended to help students verbalize reasons for feelings. The feelings covered are happy, sad, mad, embarrassed, and tired. 5 situations for each feeling is included. For each situation, 3 corresponding flashcards answer prompts is included: a sentence stating the character, feeling, and reason; a sentence stating the character and feeling with the reason left blank; and a sentence stating the character with the feeling and reason left blank. This allows for practice on 4 different levels of scaffolding.
Carrier Sentences: Requests and Statements
Students with severe language impairments often lack the ability to make simple requests/statements in order to communicate basic wants and needs. It can sometimes be difficult to generate enough natural situations for students to practice using carrier sentences. These short "stories" (scenarios) allow students to practice choosing the correct carrier sentence to be used in different situations.
This pack includes both a full page version with the carrier sentence displayed beneath the story and flashcards with the stories separate from 3 carrier sentence choice cards. Use the full page version digitally on an iPad or tablet or print.
These are cue cards for a basic conversation script. Use these for children with Autism or other severe language/pragmatic disorders. Laminate and use the blank cards for additions/changes.
Asking "How are you?" Social Story:
This is a short story about asking others, "How are you?" after responding to the question. It is meant to further develop conversational skills to include asking questions, as opposed to simply asking them. It can be printed or used on an iPad or other tablet as a no-print activity.
Saying "Please" and "Thank you" Social Story:
This is a short social story about saying please and thank you when you ask for things you need or for help. It does not include pictures. This could easily be used digitally on an iPad or tablet.
