In this second chapter, we will introduce some of the most important concepts that will be used throughout the rest of the course. The ideal gas is the most important theoretical construct that will help us understand (and calculate) the different states that a vapor (gas) can undergo and solidifies the relationship between pressure, volume, and temperatures. As well, we will introduce a series of graphs known as phase diagrams which are used by engineers to better understand and predict the behavior of different cycles and allows us to see how and when a material undergoes phase differences.
