To one foot and beyond!! Measuring can be mundane, so it is time to spice it up a notch with measuring mania! Introduce the basics of measuring inches and centimeters and well as distance on a number line with these fun activities that will get ALL students engaged.
In this pack you will get:
TO INFINITY AND BEYOND- Students will be working on two distance on a number line activities. One can be used as a whole group lesson and the other can be used as independent practice. Students will be using rulers to create intervals on their own number lines and then will place objects on their lines. They will be using these lines to measure and compare distances.
THERE'S A SNAKE IN MY BOOT- Students will be working with adding and subtracting measurements in inches by building lines on a rulers or number line.
THE CLAW- Students will be measuring objects in both inches and centimeters on rulers where the objects do not start at zero.
PIN THE PARTS ON MR. POTATO HEAD- Students will be estimating measurements in inches and centimeters as they measure Mr. Potato Head and all of his parts.

This lesson was designed with a 2nd grade classroom in mind, however it could easily be adapted to enrich a 1st grade classrooms or serve as a review in a 3rd grade classroom.
