Basketball Addition/ Subtraction Game- 144 Addition/Subtraction problems for students to solve
Materials: Cup (dixie cup will be fine), balls for each student (ping
pong balls, crumpled pieces of paper, pom poms, etc., and these
basketball addition subtraction cards
I would suggest at most a group of 4 students play this game at a time.
1. Place the cup in the middle of the table and each student needs 1 ball to use.
2. Place the cards in a stack face down in the middle of the table.
Have students turn one card over. Solve the problem mentally or with paper and pencil. Then attempt to made a “basket” using the ball and cup . The first one to make a “basket” should then verbally say the answer to the math problem and win the card. Scan the QR Code to check answers.
The player with the most cards at the end o f the game wins.
Also to differentiate some students may need a number line or 100’s chart to refer to while playing.
