Basketball Articulation and Language Game


Description
Engage your students with this fun basketball game while you target articulation skills, past tense verbs, plurals, sports vocabulary and language processing skills.
Skills Targeted:
- Initial, and final K, G, F, V, Sh, Ch, Th, S, R and L
- Initial L, R and S blends
- Sports Vocabulary
- Regular and irregular past tense verbs
- Regular and irregular plurals
- Association skills
- Categorization skills
- Similarities and differences
Game Directions:
•Place the basketballs face down on the table.
•Each student picks a basketball. If they get a basketball that says “Score 1, 2 or 3 points” they record that on their scoreboard.
•Place the basketball in the paper bag with a hoop on it.
•If the student selects a speech or language target practice the skill.
•When the bag is full empty them out and continue playing.
•Play for a specified amount of time or until a specific score.
Alternate Game Play with a toy basketball hoop and ball:
•Place the basketballs face down on the table.
•Each student picks a basketball. If they get a basketball that says “Take a shot” they go shoot a basketball. You can set up a 1, 2 or 3 point range. If they make the basket record the score on the scoreboard.
•If the student selects a speech or language target practice the skill.
•Play for a specified amount of time or a specific score.
