Product Description
Basketball Literacy Centers Antonyms, Recording Sheets and Awards

★ 4 Ways to Play!

★ 39 page download – 120 Words (60 pairs of antonyms)

★ 5 complete sets with different Basketball backings and print color to keep them separate.

★ Designed to be printed out back to back with 5 distinct Basketball graphics printing on the reverse side.
If you prefer not to print out back to back, you can print out the Basketball backings separately and glue to plain sides of word cards or use the cards without any backings.
(Different backings than my Basketball Synonyms Set so you can distinguish them from each other.)

**First print pages 1-12.
**Next, place the word sheets face up and facing you in the printer’s paper tray.
**Now, print out pages 13-22 which contain 5 different types of backings (Basketball graphics) that will be printed on the reverse side of each sheet. These graphics will keep the games separated.
**Page 23 contains all 5 color coded answer keys.
**Pages 24-38 are ten optional recording sheets (one to match each activity backing) if you’d like students to write the pairs of antonyms. ) I have included the 5 different recording sheets in color as well as black and white and in 2 sizes. The larger color version can be laminated and put in the center for students to use with an erasable marker. OR you can use the black and white versions for students to record and then color the Basketball graphic.
**Pages 39 and 40 are optional Synonyms Super Star Awards. 2 Color and 2 Black and White for students to color.
**Finally, just cut each word card sheet on the paper cutter into 12 square cards.
The sets of cards can be used as follows:

★ Activity 1: Memory/Concentration
5 separate games with 24 cards in each set. Place those 24 cards (12 pairs) face down in 4 rows of 6. Students play Memory or Concentration, turning over 2 cards at a time and keeping them if they are antonyms. The game is over when all cards are gone. The winner is the student with the most cards. Keep cards that belong together in individual baggies. It will be easy to keep the correct cards together because the Basketball backings will print out the same. Ask students to record the words if you’d like.

★ Activity 2:
Simply give individuals or small groups of students the 24 cards in a set, and ask them to match them up as antonyms. Then students use the Basketball themed recording sheets to write the pairs of antonyms.

★ Activity 3: Play as a “Go Fish” game.
Put 2 sets of cards together . Deal 5 cards to each player. A player asks another player, “Do you have an antonym for ‘big’?”, etc. If not, the player would draw a card from the pile. Instead of students holding cards in their hands, you can create a long tent with a sheet of 9 x 12 construction paper, and students can prop up their cards along the tent.

★ Activity 4: Print the “Basketball Nets/Goals” sheets out, and do not cut them up. Keep each of the 5 sheets in tact to use as game boards. Print out the sets of “Basketballs and Players,” but you won’t need to run backings for them. Place cards that match each “gameboard” face down. Students take turns drawing cards and seeing if a card matches to any of the antonyms on their gameboards. The first student to fill his or her game board is the winner.
