Are you ready to bring the fun and excitement of basketball into your classroom? How about a fun and exciting way for your students to practice the skill of dividing with 2-digit divisors? Try the math activity on this file perfect for those months before, during, and after the basketball season. Just print and play!
Three different sets of recording sheets and game cards are included on this file. I prefer to use the first set as an introductory, whole-class activity, and then use the second and third sets as a learning center for the remainder of the season or month. An additional file with Sets 4, 5, & 6
is available for purchase to extend the fun well into the season.
This whole-class activity or learning center is perfect during any month of the school year. Students play by solving problems on game cards or recording sheets, as determined by the amount of time the teacher has available in preparation for this fun activity. Once a problem has been solved, students then self-check their answers using the provided answer keys, and if correct, they roll dice to determine a basketball action. These basketball actions can range from fast breaks and layups, to blocked shots and rebounds, to air-balls and buzzer-beaters!
This file contains:
●suggested procedures and management for two methods of play (whole-class and learning center)
●2 Basketball Bonanza game boards… they differ only in the colors on the court.
●2 dice charts, one with 11 different basketball outcomes, one with 6 different basketball outcomes
●2 paper-clip spinners, one with 11 different basketball outcomes, one with 6 different basketball outcomes
●3 dividing 3- & 4-digit dividends by 2-digit divisors recording sheets (for teachers to have documentation)
●3 dividing 4- & 5-digit dividends by 2-digit divisors recording sheets
●3 sets of sixteen 3- & 4-digit dividends by 2-digit divisors question and answer cards
●3 sets of sixteen 4- & 5-digit dividends by 2-digit divisors question and answer cards
●1 set of blank recording sheets and answer keys
