Sight Word Basketball Game with 220 sight words
Materials: Cup (dixie cup will be fine), balls for each student (ping
pong, crumpled pieces of paper, pom poms, etc., and these
basketball sight word cards
I would suggest at most a group of 4 students play this game at a time.
Place the cup in the middle of the table and each student needs 1 ball to use.
2. Place the cards in a stack face down in the middle of the table.
Have students turn one card over. Then attempt to made a “basket” using the ball and cup if they can recognize the sight word. The first one to make a “basket” should then verbally recognize the sight word to earn the card.
The player with the most cards at the end o f the game wins.
These cards could also be used for a word wall if you wish.
