Are you looking for a fun and exciting way for your music classes to review notes on the Bass Clef staff? Battlin’ Basses is the perfect music game to add to your Orff and Kodaly curriculum. It will keep students engaged for an entire 30 minutes. Use it with small groups (3-4 students) or centers. The music game is great to leave with a substitute especially if the students have already played it in class and know the routine! It is also an excellent tool to use as review prior to giving an assessment.
This product is also sold in the Bass Clef: Battlin’ Basses (Bundle Set) - game for reviewing note names.
Consider purchasing the BUNDLE of all 3 products to save money!
Battlin’ Basses can be used as 2 separate games. Level One
utilizes only the Bass Clef cards that are directly on the staff. Level Two
utilizes the all the Bass Clef cards in the game from Low C to Middle C (C2 to C4). Both levels will utilize all the Battlin’ Bass Cards. The Battlin’ Bass cards have several notes on the bass clef staff that will spell out a word or the card will tell the student to move back one or two spaces.
Depending on the abilities of your students and how lucky they are in rolling “big” numbers there could be a winner in about 20 minutes. However, it usually takes 30 minutes to win. My students love the game and just start it again if there is time left in class without asking!
The product file contains 4 separate pdf files.
• The “Battlin’ Basses Directions” file contains directions for the game, printing and assembly directions plus an answer sheet.
• The “Playing Card” file will have all the playing cards: 10 pages to be printed front to back. There will be a total of 20 Bass Clef playing cards and 20 Battlin’ Bass playing cards. The playing cards are to be printed in color on letter size paper – portrait – front to back – flip on long side.
• The “Battlin’ Bass Game Board” file contains the game board which is intended to be printed in color – landscape - on 11x17 or A3 paper.
• A separate game board has been provided if you are unable to print 11x17. Print the “Battlin’ Basses assemble game board” on 8 ½ x 11 paper in color, landscape, shrink oversized pages. Cut and tape the 2 game boards together where indicated.
Once you have printed and laminated the game boards and playing cards you will just need to round up a few dice and playing pieces and you will be ready to play! Students will be begging to play it again and again!
