“Bat Loves to Spell” is a bat-themed literacy center that gives children practice isolating letter sounds in short words and finding the corresponding letters to spell twenty different CVC words to match pictures. Children will look at the picture on each bat’s body, isolate the sounds by segmenting the word or tapping out the sounds to find the beginning and final sound on bath wings to complete the bats body by spelling the word. We have included a recording sheet for a laminated center or a reproducible file, and have provided a modified version of these sheets also.
