Every year, one of the hardest procedures I teach is when it's appropriate to ask to go to the bathroom and when you need to wait. I hate being interrupted constantly by students who feel like I' being inconsistent or playing favorites when I allow some students to go to the bathroom (because they've asked at an appropriate time) but not them. I also teach low level English learners, so I wanted this to be a highly visual resource.
So I created this simple sort- and the best part is, you can decide for yourself which of these times is a good time to go and when is not! For example, for me it's fine for them to go to the bathroom during centers, but maybe for you that's not an appropriate time. You can use this sort as a teaching tool or as a review tool in the middle of the year if you find that your students don't seem to know when to go.
