As a middle school teacher, I get frustrated when 20 students ask me if they can use the bathroom at the same time, or if they ask during the middle of a lecture. With the use of bathroom passes, this never happens in my classroom anymore! A student just needs to simply tear one of the 4 bathroom passes from this sheet, hold it in the air, and when I give them a thumbs up, they can hand me the pass then leave the room.
I call them "Class Tickets" instead of bathroom passes because they have multiple uses. If students keep losing their pencils, they can "buy" more from me by giving me a class ticket. If I have other supplies available (such as pens, binders, dividers, notebooks), they can buy those as well. If students still have any remaining tickets at the end of the trimester or semester, they can turn them back in to receive a little extra credit towards their grade.
Tips: Once you download this document, please change the wording to fit your classroom and students. There are 2 pages to print; I print this document 2-sided because it will show what they can buy on the back of the ticket. Also, when I hand these out at the beginning of each trimester, I print them on cardstock, and I ask the students to write their names in pen before they store them away. By writing their names in pen, this ensures that they don't share them with other students.
