Roll, Say, Keep,
A A Sight Word Game
This is a game to help children learn sight words in a fun way. There are 220 words from the Dolch Sight Word List. This game is to be played in a small group.
Print the game board and cards on cardstock and laminate them. Divide the cards into 6 sets and place them in the boxes face up. Children will roll a die to determine which box they will pick a card from. They will read the word and keep it. If they can’t read the card, they leave it in the box. If they roll a number of a box that is empty, they miss the turn. If they draw a special card, they do as it says. The child with the most sight word cards after all are picked is the winner.
Batman is on the way! Take 2 cards from all today! (Each child playing will give the child 2 cards.)
Robin! Yahoo! Take 2! (Take 3 cards from any box on the game board.)
Joker! Hee! Hee! Hee! Give up 3! (Give up 3 cards.)
Penguin! Oh! My! Give a card to every guy! (The child will give a card to everyone playing.)
Kapow! Give up all your cards! Now! Pow! (The child will lose all their cards.)
