This is a free unit from our Reading With a Purpose series to celebrate the Halloween season. It includes five pages of student activities centered around one of the most fascinating animals on the planet. The reading is an informative and interesting summary of the only mammals capable of flight, and it explains how bats became associated with Halloween. The lesson is part of our Halloween Common Core bundle, and lessons in the bundle were created to cover Range of Reading, Key Ideas and Details, Craft and Structure, Level of Text Complexity, Phonics and Word Recognition, Writing, and Fluency.
The bundle is available here: History of Halloween Bundle
