This is an activity to help support your students with CCSS 2.MD.8 (money story problems)

This game helps with coin recognition and coin amounts. It is played similarly to Battle Ship. Each student starts with the same coins. One student places their coins on their grid (blocked by a folder or something similar). They then have to give directions to the other student(s) to try to get them to make their boards all look the same. When they are done, they have to add up their coins to see how much money they have.

My students really liked playing this game and it helped them in their coin identification skills.

Enjoy!
