This is a unique PowerPoint game that mocks old-school video games where you battle a "monster" by answering math questions (or any type of question really, as it is fully editable).
If your students answer the question right, you get to click the "hit" button, and the monster loses one of it's 3 Hit Points. If you get all 3 editable questions right, the monster is defeated. If the students miss one or more, there's an alternate ending and the monster lives to battle another day. It's fairly hard to explain, and the picture preview doesn't quite do it justice, so I made a video to demonstrate what this PowerPoint game is all about and how it looks/functions. Check it out at:
I use this PowerPoint and others I've created to give my students a fun way to do Math warm-ups or short test-prep practice. Even though I made it for my math classes, the questions can truly be rewritten for any subject.
I've included versions for PowerPoint 2003, 2010, and 2013. If you're using another version, it should work in theory, but PowerPoint can be testy at times, even on different computers, so just be aware.
If you're an old-school-nerd like me with a warm spot in your heart for old video games, and you want to make your subject a little bit more fun for the video game fans in your classroom, give this PowerPoint a try. I hope you like it as much as my students do!
