Students read a patriot's account and a British account from the Revolutionary War (American Revolution) of the Battle of Lexington, answer 18 questions, and compare and contrast the accounts. This would be great for a sub! The answers are included where appropriate.
Sample questions include:
-What does the phrase "utmost expedition and secrecy" mean?
-Describe the situation the British found themselves in when they were leaving Concord.
-Explain the significance of the meeting of British and Patriots on Lexington Green. Use information from the text and infer from any prior knowledge.
-How many men were already armed in Parker's company?
-What do you think "the guts of his gun" means?
-What accounts for similarities and differences between an account of a single event?
-Does technology such as video recordings and social media hold people accountable to the truth? Why or why not? Who determines what the truth actually is if there is more than one point of view?
