In this activity, students will examine 7 documents about the battle written between 500 BCE and 200 CE., and will be asked to consider the extent to which the battle was a suicide mission.

This assignment includes introductory level scaffolding for key skills such as sourcing, corroboration and using evidence as part of the response. (5 pages)
A second version has been included that has the scaffolding removed so that it may be given as a traditional DBQ. (3 pages)
